WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA),  Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on Near Eastern and South and Central Asian Affairs, released the following statement on the attack against the U.S. Consulate in Libya:

"I extend my deepest condolences to the family of Ambassador Chris Stevens and the families of his three American staff members who were killed in the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya. Ambassador Stevens was a stellar diplomat and extraordinary representative of the United States during this challenging period in the Middle East. This senseless act of violence should not go unpunished and I urge the Administration to make every effort to ensure Libyan authorities bring the perpetrators to justice."
