Washington DC- U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA), a member of the National Security Working Group, released a statement on the political transition in Afghanistan. Today, Secretary of State John Kerry is in Afghanistan pushing for a solution.

"The ongoing turmoil around the Afghan Presidential elections is troubling. The United States and our coalition partners have made tremendous sacrifices to help improve security and stability in Afghanistan and to set the stage for this electoral process.

The Afghan people turned out in droves to support a transparent, credible election process that was largely free from violence. The IEC should conduct its review in an impartial and transparent manner. I urge all parties to accept the results of the election, when they are made final, and move forward to build a government that is inclusive and representative of the Afghan people."
