Washington DC- U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA), a member of the National Security Working Group, released a statement following a meeting with Masoud Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Region in Iraq:

“I appreciated the opportunity to meet with Kurdish President Barzani to discuss the challenges facing the Kurdish people and the region more broadly.  I asked him about the need to cut off ISIS from its financial support, including its illicit sale of oil and antiquities on the black market.  He informed us of the challenges facing the Kurdish peshmerga in their efforts to repel ISIS forces and the need for greater humanitarian assistance to those affected by the crisis. The Kurds are important partners in the fight against this brutal terrorist organization.”
