Washington, DC—U.S. Senators Bob Casey (D-PA) and Pat Toomey (R-PA) today announced the process to be followed by persons interested in being considered for appointment to the position of Federal District Court Judge for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. There are currently six judicial vacancies in the Eastern District. The President has nominated highly qualified individuals, who were recommended by Senators Casey and Toomey, for three of those positions.
U.S. Senators Robert P. Casey, Jr. and Patrick J. Toomey invite all persons interested in being considered for appointment to the position of Federal District Court Judge for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania to obtain and submit an application that can be found on Senator Casey’s website (http://casey.senate.gov/) or by request from Senator Toomey’s office (judgeappEDPA@toomey.senate.gov). This questionnaire must be completed and returned to both Senators in Microsoft Word or PDF format by email to firstname.lastname@example.org and judgeappEDPA@toomey.senate.gov no later than 5pm, Friday January 25th, 2013. Applicants should expect that the panel interview process will commence shortly thereafter. Senators Casey and Toomey will be advised and assisted in this process by judicial selection panels consisting of leading members of the bar and other respected Pennsylvania citizens.
Please note that individuals who applied during the July 2011 judicial selection process do not need to complete this application and interview process again; however, to remain eligible for consideration, they must send a communication to both of the emails above by 5pm, Friday January 25th stating their continued interest in becoming a federal judge for the EDPA.
