Washington, DC- Today, U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) released the following statement on the confirmation of Tony Blinken as Deputy Secretary of State:

“I am pleased that my Senate colleagues voted today to confirm Tony Blinken to the post of Deputy Secretary of State. This is an important post at a critical time in our nation’s history.  Tony is well qualified for the job. His extensive work in national security for both the Clinton and Obama Administrations brings a seasoned capability to his new position in the State Department.  I believe his experience as a Senate staffer and his understanding of how Congress works will be valuable assets to the Administration as they work to addresses the many challenges we face a nation.”
