Post exchange gets OK to move to Moon Township

A move by the Army Air Force Exchange Service from Oakdale to Moon Township has gotten the go ahead from a Senate committee.

A news release from Sen. Bob Casey, D-Pa,, said the Senate Armed Services Committee on Personnel has approved the construction of the exchange, which will be located in Moon Township next to a commissary at the McGarity Army Reserve Center.

The post exchange, also known as the PX, would include a retail and clothing store and barber shop.

"This announcement is another success for southwestern Pennsylvania military families," Casey said in a prepared statement. "Along with the construction of the commissary, Navy Operation Support Center, and with the continuing mission of the 911th Airlift Wing, the region continues to hold strong in military assets. This new asset will help the economy while supporting the 168,000 eligible members of the military community in our Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia region."
