WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Senator Bob Casey announced today that the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has awarded $159,779 in federal funding to the Borough of Elizabethtown for school safety.

“I am pleased that the Borough of Elizabethtown has been awarded federal funds to improve school safety resources,” said Senator Casey. “When we send our children to school, everything possible must be done to ensure that they will be learning in a safe environment.”

The funding is part of the almost $16 million available through the Secure Our Schools (SOS) grant program at the DOJ Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) for Fiscal Year 2009.

SOS funding is intended to assist with the procurement of school safety resources and to establish and enhance school safety equipment and programs.
