WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Senator Bob Casey today announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) under the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has awarded $192,675 to two fire departments in the Lehigh Valley for operations and safety.

“Pennsylvania’s firefighters endure risk and sacrifice every day to keep our communities safe,” said Senator Casey. “This money will help provide the firefighters of the Lehigh Valley with the gear, training and equipment they need to ensure their safety and the safety of those they serve.”

Bangor Fire Department will receive $80,940.

Tri Clover Volunteer Fire Company in Orefield will receive $111,735.

Federal funds are awarded through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant program (AFG) which aims to strengthen the Nation’s first responders’ ability to protect the health and safety of the public as well as the responders’ themselves. This is the eighth round of AFG grants for Fiscal Year 2010.
