Washington, DC- Today, U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) honored Alyssa O’Neill, a Pennsylvania girl who passed away as a result of epilepsy. Alyssa’s parents have started a national movement with the #AJO hash tag to remember their daughter through random acts of kindness and to raise awareness for epilepsy. At Casey’s monthly constituent coffee, cups were marked with Alyssa’s initials using purple markers because purple is the color of epilepsy awareness.

“I was touched by the movement that grew from Alyssa’s parents’ act of kindness to honor their daughter’s memory,” said Senator Casey. “I hope these cups inspire Pennsylvanians to perform a random act of kindness today or sometime in the future in Alyssa’s memory.”
