Casey on Vote to Consider Crackdown on China’s Currency Manipulation

WASHINGTON, DCU.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA), Chairman of the Joint Economic Committee, tonight released the following statement on the bipartisan vote to consider S.1619, the Currency Exchange Rate Oversight Reform Act:

“I am gratified that the Senate agreed tonight to take a critical first step toward cracking down on China’s unfair trade practices.  For far too long, the U.S. has allowed China to manipulate its currency without consequence and the practice has taken a dramatic toll on Pennsylvania’s companies and workers.  We have had enough tough talk - now we need tough action.  I urge the Senate to move quickly to pass this legislation so that we can begin to level the playing field for U.S. workers.”
