Washington DC- U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) released a statement following the Senate’s vote on its clean debt ceiling bill, which was rejected when the 60 vote threshold failed to be reached, 53-45.

“Economists from both sides of the aisle agree that a default would have a disastrous impact on the economy and jobs. A default would threaten middle class Pennsylvanians' retirement plans, social security checks and Medicare payments.  We need to end the Tea Party shutdown and prevent a Tea Party default"
