Washington, DC- Today U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) released the following statement on the House Republican budget proposal:

“The budget released by House Republicans today is an extreme document that will hurt economic growth, gut essential programs for vulnerable children and seniors, and increase the cost of college for middle class families. Balancing the budget on the backs of working families who have borne the brunt of the recession makes no economic sense.  We should start making smart fiscal decisions that will drive consumer spending and help Americans get back on their feet so that they can help drive the economy. This budget fails to invest in measures that we know work and create jobs like early learning, medical research, and our nation’s infrastructure. The House Republican budget also continues the mean-spirited attacks on important programs that provide critical assistance to children, seniors, and those with disabilities.”
