Washington, D.C.- Today, U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) released a statement following the passing of former U.S. Senator Dick Schweiker.

“Senator Dick Schweiker was a true public servant for the people of Pennsylvania. Where there were problems, he sought solutions and where there was discord, he sought compromise. Millions of Americans are healthier today because of the work Senator Dick Schweiker did, particularly those Americans at risk for diabetes. The work then Senator Dick Schweiker did on diabetes in the late 1960s and early 1970s became a template for medical research across the government. Senator Dick Schweiker focused on commonsense, bipartisan solutions to the challenges our nation faced from job training to investments in education. This week is a moment to pause and reflect on his long life of service. I express my condolences to the Schweiker family during this time.”
