Washington, D.C. - In response to recent comments made by USDA Secretary Sonny Perdue, U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) is issuing the following statement:

“As the number of dairy farms in Pennsylvania continues to decline, we should work to invest in opportunities for them to innovate, not give up on their survival all together. We should work to enhance opportunities for dairy farmers to tap into and expand critical markets, including organic, local and value added agriculture. The Secretary’s comments are a direct attack on Pennsylvania’s dairy farms, where small herds dominate the landscape and our dairy producers continue to face significant economic challenges.”
