Washington, DC – U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA), a member of the National Security Working Group and former Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on Near Eastern and South and Central Asian Affairs, released a statement following the terrorist attack in Turkey:

"I'm deeply saddened by the terrorist attack in Istanbul at Ataturk International Airport. Today, our nation stands in solidarity with the Turkish people and its government, a NATO ally, in its fight against terrorists. In February, I visited the region, and Turkey specifically, to discuss counterterrorism financing. I received a briefing on terrorism and security challenges from the U.S. Ambassador and his team in Ankara, ‎and I met with senior officials in the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Interior. While intelligence officials are still determining who launched this attack, it's clear that ISIS represents a substantial threat to our nation and our allies. It's vital the Administration continue to intensify efforts to destroy ISIS."
