Washington DC- Today, U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) released a statement following the release of a report by the VA’s Inspector General on the Philadelphia VA Regional Office.

“This report is shocking. It’s clear that top officials at the Philadelphia VA Regional Office failed miserably in their duty to provide the region’s veterans with high quality services and benefits. I am alarmed by the numerous allegations substantiated by the VA OIG including grave mismanagement, data manipulation, improper payment of benefits, and a clear culture of distrust.  The disturbing details of this report demonstrate the immediate need for full scale reform at the Philadelphia VARO. It is clear that there must be changes made in order to ensure a more efficient and productive work environment that provides timely and accurate delivery of benefits and services to our veterans. I strongly encourage VBA leadership and VARO management to work expeditiously to implement the recommendations in this report. In the coming weeks I will be moving forward with bipartisan legislation that will reform the disability claims process so that veterans and their families in Southeastern Pennsylvania and across the nation receive the benefits they have earned.”
