Johnstown’s Showcase Brings Small Business, Larger Firms Together

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) today announced that he will be the congressional lead for the 2013 Showcase for Commerce. The event is an annual business and manufacturing trade show that is held in Johnstown every year. The event is organized through Johnstown Area Regional Industries (JARI) and the Johnstown Chamber of Commerce.

“I am honored to be a Congressional leader in Showcase for Commerce,” said Senator Casey.  I am excited to be working alongside JARI, the Johnstown Chamber of Commerce and Ed Sheehan, Showcase for Commerce Chairman.  “Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, and this event is a great opportunity for them to create mutually beneficial business relationships with larger companies. I’m proud to actively organize and participate in this year’s Showcase which will bring more attention to the special talents in Pennsylvania.”

As the Congressional lead for Showcase for Commerce, Senator Casey will encourage members of Congress and the Administration to attend and engage with the participating exhibitors.  Showcase for Commerce began over 20 years ago with Congressman Murtha bringing together a handful of small businesses to network with larger defense firms.  Since that time, Showcase has grown into a week-long networking opportunity for business and industry. The main showcase expo includes 150 exhibits and is attended by over 2,000 attendees.  Previous sponsors include: BAE Systems, Boeing, CTC, JWF Industries, Kongberg, Lockheed Martin, Northrup Grumman and General Dynamics.  The 2013 Showcase will run from May 29th to 31st.
