In Meeting with Senior Officials, Casey Says China Must Play by the Rules

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA), Chairman of the Joint Economic Committee, today met with a delegation from China to deliver a strong message to senior Chinese officials today that Pennsylvanians expect China to play by the international rules they agreed to when joining the WTO.

“I have been pushing the Administration continuously to crack down on China’s currency manipulation and today I addressed the issue directly with China’s Chairman of the China Investment Corporation and former Vice Minister of Finance.  I made clear that China’s unfair trade practices will not be tolerated.  For far too long, the U.S. has allowed China to manipulate its currency without consequence and the practice has taken a dramatic toll on Pennsylvania’s companies and workers. I will continue to fight to protect Pennsylvania’s workers.”
