Casey Urges Frontier to Bring Service to LVIA, Allegiant Airlines to Increase Flights

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) is pushing for greater service at Lehigh Valley International Airport. In letters to company CEOs, Senator Casey urged Frontier Airlines to bring service to LVIA and pushed Allegiant Airlines, which already services the airport, to increase flight options for Lehigh Valley residents.

Airport officials are hoping to lure new airlines to LVIA and get existing airlines to add new routes after AirTran announced it would be leaving the airport this summer. In his letters to Frontier and Allegiant CEOs, Senator Casey made the case that the airlines stand to benefit from serving Pennsylvania’s third most populated metropolitan region.

“Residents of the Lehigh Valley have a great resource in LVIA, but too often travelers are forced to make long trips to airports out of the region to find the cheapest flights on the best routes,” said Senator Casey. “Bringing service to LVIA and expanding routes would give more options to Lehigh Valley residents and let the airlines tap into the third most populated metropolitan region of Pennsylvania. I stand ready to assist in any way possible to bring additional airlines, jobs and economic growth to the region.”

Lehigh Valley residents often have to travel more than 70 miles away for a greater selection of affordable flights, limiting options for those wishing to travel. Moving to and expanding in LVIA could increase the airlines’ customer base, Senator Casey wrote.

Senator Casey’s letters to Frontier and Allegiant Air CEOs are below:

Mr. David Siegel

President and Chief Executive Officer

Frontier Airlines

Frontier Center One, 7001 Tower Rd

Denver, CO 80249

Dear Mr. Siegel,

I write to urge you to consider adding flights from Lehigh Valley International Airport (LVIA) to Orlando. LVIA is located three miles northeast of Allentown in the Lehigh Valley Region of Pennsylvania, which is the third most populated metropolitan region in the state.  Currently residents of the Lehigh Valley have to travel more than seventy miles away for a greater selection of flights and more affordable fares.

Bringing Frontier Airline service to LVIA will attract more customers and allow residents of the Lehigh Valley to have the option of taking flights that depart and arrive closer to their homes.  A LVIA to Orlando International Airport route would provide an attractive and affordable route for Lehigh Valley residents to use.

I stand ready to assist Frontier Airlines with adding flights to LVIA. Thank you for your continued efforts in providing safe and affordable airfare for our country.

Sincerely,

Robert P. Casey, Jr.

United States Senator

Dear Mr. Gallagher,

I write to urge you to consider adding additional flights from Lehigh Valley International Airport (LVIA) to Orlando.  Currently residents of the Lehigh Valley have to travel more than seventy miles away for a greater selection of flights and more affordable fares.

Bringing additional Allegiant air service to LVIA will attract more customers and allow residents of the Lehigh Valley to have the option of taking flights that depart and arrive closer to their homes.  Additional flights from LVIA to Orlando International Airport would provide greater flexibility and options for their traveling plans.

I stand ready to assist Allegiant Airlines with increasing flights from LVIA to Orlando.  Thank you for your continued efforts in providing safe and affordable airfare for residents of the Lehigh Valley.

Sincerely,

Robert P. Casey, Jr.
