Casey: High-Paying LORD Corp. Jobs Vital to Region’s Economy

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA), Chairman of the Joint Economic Committee, is urging LORD Corporation to maintain its operations in the Erie region to keep high-paying jobs in the area.

“LORD Corporation’s high-paying jobs are vital to the region’s ability to recover in this difficult economy,” said Senator Casey. “I am committed to working in every way possible to ensure that jobs remain in Erie.”

Senator Casey spoke with LORD Corporation CEO Rick McNeel last month about preserving the company’s footprint in the Erie region, and he reiterated his support in a letter to McNeel today.

Senator Casey has also expressed his support for LORD Corporation’s continued presence in Erie to Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett.

Senator Casey’s letter to McNeel is below:

Dear Mr. McNeel:

Thank you for taking the time to speak with me last month about LORD’s current and future presence in the Erie area.  As a major employer in Erie, I appreciate your willingness to work towards maintaining LORD’s facilities in the area.  I recognize that there are many different dynamics impacting this decision, and I thank you for working diligently through these issues with local and state officials.

I have spoken with the Governor about the importance of LORD to the Erie community and understand that he is committed to working towards a positive outcome.  Maintaining the jobs the LORD Corporation provides to the Erie region is of critical importance.  I want to reiterate my commitment to be of assistance in any way I can.

Sincerely,

Robert P. Casey, Jr.
United States Senator
