WASHINGTON, DC-U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) today announced the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has awarded $12,787,329 to southwestern Pennsylvania through HUD’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. The funding was included in the recently enacted American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

“These grants will help local government pursue economic and community development projects,” said Senator Casey.  “One of the objectives of the recovery plan is to help local governments revitalize their communities. These funds will go a long way to meeting this goal.”

The CDBG program is a formula grant program designed to help local governments to address challenges in their communities.

McKeesport    $327,572
Penn Hills    $200,233
Pittsburgh    $4,478,251
Washington County    $1,151,729
Westmoreland County    $1,197,148
Regional Total    $12,787,329

Senator Casey will continue to support programs designed to spur job creation and promote economic growth.
