WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) announced that legislation he cosponsored to support Pennsylvania’s hunters and fishers has passed a key procedural hurdle in the Senate in a bipartisan vote to move it forward.

“Hunting and fishing are part of Pennsylvania’s heritage, and they support substantial economic activity and jobs in the state,” said Senator Casey. “This bill will ensure that our great outdoors are open for sustainable recreation and conserved for generations to come.”

The Sportsmen’s Act increases access for hunting and fishing, supports land and species conservation and protects hunting and fishing rights.

The bill also sets aside funds from the Land and Water Conservation Fund to increase public land access, reauthorizes the North American Wetlands Conservation Act and supports new shooting ranges.
