WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA), Chairman of the Joint Economic Committee, released the following statement on the Senate vote to pass the Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act.

“Passage of the payroll tax cut is a big victory for Pennsylvania and working families across the country,” Senator Casey said.  “I continued to fight to keep this middle class tax cut because it ensures more take home pay for 160 million Americans and keeps in place an important economic driver. Although I would have preferred that, like my proposal, this legislation was fully paid-for - this compromise is a major win for bipartisanship and I am grateful to the Democrats and Republicans on the committee who worked together with me to get this done in the interest of our working families. ”

Passing the payroll tax cut will mean nearly $500 in added take-home pay for the average working Pennsylvanian.
