Washington DC- Today U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA), Chairman of the Finance Subcommittee on Fiscal Responsibility and Economic Growth, released the following statement on allegations that the IRS targeted political groups for increased oversight:

“Like a lot of Americans, I am outraged by the alleged actions of IRS employees.  Pennsylvanians and Americans across the country deserve to know that the IRS and all government agencies do their jobs without prejudice or political agenda.  I intend to see that this matter is appropriately investigated and those responsible for any breach of the taxpayer’s trust are held accountable.  As a member of the Finance committee, I will work with Chairman Baucus and Republicans and Democrats on the committee to ensure that the American people get the answers they deserve.”
