WASHINGTON, DC—U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA), Member of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, released the following statement on Italy’s Republic Day:

Today I send my best wishes to all Italians and Italian Americans celebrating Italy’s Republic Day.  On June 2, 1946, the people of Italy founded their republic and began a new chapter in their long and illustrious history.  The United States and Italy have a strong partnership based on mutual interests and shared values, and our countries are irrevocably linked by ties of family and culture.  Millions of Americans trace their heritage to Italy, and I am proud to represent vibrant Italian American communities across Pennyslvania, who have made enormous contributions to the social, economic and cultural life of our Commonwealth.  I offer my heartfelt congratulations to all who are celebrating on this historic day, I look forward to continuing to work together to promote peace and prosperity in our world.
